With decades of experience designing affordable housing and public schools, I bring a strong foundation in sustainability and client-focused solutions to my growing solo practice, where I develop solutions that meet families’ needs while prioritizing community care.

PREVIOUS WORK

Collaborative for High Performance Schools National Technical Committee

I contributed to the development of national standards for sustainable school construction, serving as chair of the Site & Water Subcommittee and member of the Indoor Environmental Quality & Energy Subcommittees.

Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design

I employed the LEED [Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design] criteria on several renovation projects, including the development of a new public health clinic within the historic Kelly Cullen Community (former YMCA) in San Francisco.

Green Point Rated

I employed the GreenPoint Rated EHMF [Existing Homes Multi Family] criteria on many affordable housing renovation projects, including a pilot project for application of the criteria to the California Hotel.

Sustainable Renovation

Wiley - 2011

I co-authored a book exploring strategies for performing sustainable renovations of both historic and modern buildings.

This forward-looking and insightful guide explores how the sustainable renovation of existing buildings presents great opportunities for initiating extensive changes in the performance of the built environment. Excellent examples of existing building upgrades are examined, illustrating how to do sustainable renovations, along with current design approaches for radically improving the functionality of existing prewar, postwar, and late-modern buildings.

Sustainable Renovation saves its key focus for institutional and commercial buildings but discusses the challenges they pose within a global scope that encompasses all building practices.
